The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (“ABPI”) is committed to the privacy of the users of this website and their personal information.  This policy governs our collection and use of any personal information which we may obtain about you.  By using this website you are consenting to that collection and use.
ABPI may change this policy from time to time.  Please therefore check to make sure you are aware of the most current policy which will apply whenever you access this website.

2. What personal information do we collect?

In order to interact through the Extranet, you will need to become a registered user of the site.  That process will involve you in the provision of personal information and/or verification against our GroupForce mailing system.  The personal information which ABPI will collect will include your name, work address, employer, email address and job title.
When you visit the ABPI Extranet, your Internet Protocol (‘IP’) address and other information relating to your visit will be tracked by a method called URL Rewriting where the link (URL) to any page on the site has a unique session ID appended to it.  ABPI may use your IP address if we believe it is necessary in order to enforce compliance with the site’s terms of use, or to protect our service, site or other users.

3. Collection of non-personal information

ABPI uses technology which allows it to track the number of visits to the website, the number of visitors to a particular page of the website, and to identify the domain names of our visitors; internet service providers.  This is not personal information and will only be used by us in aggregate form to evaluate the use of the website with a view to making changes or improvements as required.

4. Disclosure of information

Your personal information may be used by the ABPI for the purposes set out in this policy.  ABPI may also share your personal information with third party contractors or agents who perform functions on ABPI’s behalf. Such persons will not, however, be permitted to use your personal information for any other purposes.
Save as provided above, unless obliged to do so by law, ABPI will not sell, rent, lease or otherwise share your personal information with third parties unless you have provided your express informed consent.

5. What we use your personal information for

ABPI will use your personal information to:

• Provide you with information about other services provided by the ABPI which we believe might be of interest to you.  This may include, but not be limited to, meetings, conferences and publications
• Seek feedback on the effectiveness of the website
• Any other use expressly described in this policy

6.  Opting out

You may at any time opt out of any future ABPI communication, digital or non-digital, Promotional or non-Promotional. If you wish to opt out of receiving postal or email communications please contact ABPI using the details in section 1.

7.    Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of personal information that is sent from our web server to your browser when you visit the ABPI Extranet. It is stored on your hard drive. There are several types of cookie that are used to keep track of information needed by a site user as they travel from page to page within a website.
Other types of cookie can be used to track internet activity after the user has left a website. These are normally facilitated b y organisations external to the website being visited and are generally known as ‘thi rd party’ cookies. These usually have a long lifetime with several months being quite common. They are "harvested" and "refreshed" whenever the user visits a page where the same or a similar cookie is being used.
We will not use any of this personal information to identify you personally, it is used only to monitor and improve the ABPI Extranet.
Internet browsers normally accept cookies by default, but it is possible to set a browser to reject cookies. If this is done it is important not to exclude the benign and useful cookies. Choose an option that rejects all third party and long lived cookies.

8. Maintaining the information we hold about you

The ABPI aims to keep the Personal information it holds about you accurate and up to date. If at any time you want to verify, update or amend any personal information we hold about you or if you become aware of possible errors or inaccuracies in that personal information, please contact the ABPI using the details in section 1.

9. Links to third party sites

The ABPI Extranet may contain links to other sites, provided as a convenience to you. You are under no obligation to use these sites, but if you choose to do so, please be aware that these sites have separate privacy policies. Please refer to these before interacting with the site. The ABPI cannot accept responsibility for any use of your personal information by these sites.

10. Surveys

The ABPI may from time to time invite you to participate in surveys. This may occur online or using other communication channels. Anonymity of individual respondents and protection of personal details will be maintained except where you have expressly granted permission to the contrary. Information gathered through surveys will be researched and compiled on an aggregated basis and results may be published on the ABPI Extranet or elsewhere. Such results will not identify you. The information will be used to help us formulate our policy positions and to monitor or improve the ABPI Extranet and ABPI products and services.

11. Security

The ABPI places great emphasis on the security of personal data which it holds. We have security measures in place to protect personal information under our control from unauthorised access, use or disclosure.  We cannot guarantee that loss, misuse or alteration to personal information will not occur whilst under our control, but we endeavour to prevent it.
